CURATED BY ROBIN MOLENAAR

The Ursprung association began implementing Land Art Rittisberg in 2023. In the first year, four works of art were created by four international artists. With 2024, three site specific installations have been added.

The land art project aims to create a link between nature and tourism. It is intended to provide impetus as to how mountains used for tourism can be designed in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way. The aim is to focus on sustainability, environmental awareness and climate protection. With this project, the Ursprung association wants to show how intact habitats and tourism development can coexist. The aim is to raise awareness of the sustainable design of summit attractions and at the same time encourage guests to appreciate nature and see themselves as part of these important ecosystems.

Context: The so-called Schladming-Dachstein region is a popular tourist destination, which comes with environmental impacts and pressures. The Land Art Rittisberg should on one hand show a different approach to enjoying Austrian mountains in a softer way and on the other raise awareness.
